Supertown is not really working in its current format. I need some time to rethink things, but I’m not ready to give up just yet on these characters and storylines. I have so much more to tell. The history of Will’s dad, what kind of tool Awesome-Man really is, Kapture’s insecurities, and so on. I just need to figure out the best way to do this, as well as get more people interested. I set a schedule (three comics a week) and kept to it faithfully since last October. I had kind of hoped that…
…you know what? It doesn’t matter anymore. Right now, the fact that Supertown was just yet another big creative failure from me does not matter. If you read the comic, thank you. I do appreciate it. But my frustration needs to ring true, and I’ll either see you in the future or not see you at all. Until then, Townies!

Right, so lately I’ve been posting most of my artwork on my Flickr account. There’s some Supertown stuff there, as well as my ongoing challenge to draw everyone from LOST in my Supertown style (i.e., minus important limbs and such). It’s fun all around. Go check it out, and if you’re somewhat hesitant to click through then here’s a sneak peek at one of the possible villains for Chapter Three, “Awesome-Man Ruins Midnight’s Day,” which is a title I like very much:

His name is Yawnsome. He’ll make you tired with ease…

So, we’re closing in on finishing up Chapter Two, “No Trouble Like Zoo Trouble.” I suspect it’ll be about 20 to 30 more comics, in which case I might do the final ones all in one go over a week or two’s time. Or something like that. Why? Cause I’m tired and constantly stressing myself out over this little webcomic that nobody really reads. If you are one of the few that do read it, don’t take that as me dismissing you; I’m not. You rock, always and forever. But let me tell you a fact: 13 people read the comic this past Monday, a day which I updated.
That fact has been eating at my brain and heart for days. And truth be told, I could probably name 10 out of those 13 readers.
Tara asked me last night if I was doing Supertown for myself or for others to look at—and I told her both. To me, it’s a fun world with fun stories to tell and a different kind of art style that I’m still evolving, but I’d also like others to feel the same way because, well…why wouldn’t I? That’s the dream. Make comics people love. The hardest part is getting them interested, and I will admit that I’m a terrible self-promoter. I feel like it’s just constant nagging on my part, and I end up putting too much faith into word-of-mouth, which never glitters like gold. I post that I’ve updated the comic and wait with bated breath.
The website url is on loan to me from the gracious Lis Mitchell until this fall where it’ll mark the one-year anniversary of the comic. Then I have to decide if I want to buy the domain and hosting stuff or let it fall to the wayside. As a poor guy just about to get married, I’m not sure what the wisest move is, and I thought having a real website would make a larger impact, but MyLifeComics, on a free Wordpress blog, is totally kick the arms and legs off of Supertown.
In conclusion: I’m not giving up on Supertown. I’m also not asking for a million readers, fans, and groupies that comment excessively and tell the world about what I’m creating here. But some mild interest would be nice, motivating for sure. So once Chapter Two is over, expect a break.

Well, Chapter One, “Bugs in the War Room,” was all about getting to know Willpower and Kapture and their first attempt to stop the maybe-not-so-villainous Junebug. Now that that is all said and done, we’re moving on…to Chapter Two! This one is called “No Trouble Like Zoo Trouble” and it is a brand new adventure with a new villain (or two). I hope you stick around to see how it all goes down, Townies!
Spoiler: there will be monkeys.
Before I forget, let me mention that you can also read Supertown at this here Facebook page or over on LiveJournal. Naturally, I’d rather you come here and leave me a thousand and one lovely comments, but beggars can’t be choosers. That’s all, folks!

Well, I went and made a Facebook fanpage for Supertown, and y’all should click over and love it dearly:

Why? Well, for one thing, there’s going to be exclusive content there. Starting today, I’m introducing the very first Super Short! called “All They Want for Christmas.” This is a five-part mini-comic that is not canon to the current storyline. Every day this week, a new comic is posted. So don’t be square and miss out on all the fun!

My guest strip for the Daily Cross Hatch is now live. Head on over to their site to check it out!
In honor of this, I took it upon myself to answer the question nobody was asking: what would the Daily Cross Hatch look like if the website became a superhero in Supertown? Something like this, perhaps…
